Weave a nostalgic tale with a homey, enchanting setting. Make up
a few endearing characters. Throw in a couple antagonists. Set it up
as an annual feast for the senses, which automatically flips the switch
so everyone can play their part. Have wonderful, relational women
shoulder the greatest portion of the burden for making perfection happen,
while children rule the house for merely a season.
Surround everyone with a plethora of gorgeous props.
Orchestrate a soundtrack, and stir in a smorgasbord
of special tastes and smell to set the mood.
Close your eyes and imagine such a place.
Open them and realize that it’s not make-believe,
but reality for 98% of America
and 95-96% of the world.
Now, also realize that
America’s and the world’s economy
are largely based on the success
of this humongous extravaganza.
And voilà, you’re there!
In a winter wonderland,
where all is not as it appears to be.
Debt?

Doesn’t there seem to be a madness in the air?

America is going through a whole reassessment of values
